Thriller Planning (Early draft)

- Locations:
  • Empty barn
  • Burnt down house
  • Empty field
- Flashback to build story.
- Day and night, either could work, but night time would work better for our plot. Also, depending on the weather, snow would look good.
- Black and white
- Chiaroscuro lighting (strong contrast)
- Two actors; interrogator and interrogatee
- Interrogation
- Two interrogator (male)
- Interrogatee (female)
- Classical music (contrast of elegant music to rough actions).
- Plot: She burnt down the house after taking something from the house. She is then caught and interrogated.

Title options:
  • Voleur- 'Thief' in French
  • Varas- 'Thief' in Finnish

  1. A good start to your planning.

  2. You need to focus on a disciplined shot list which will include about 10-12 primary shots. The idea of the girl burning down the house could be used in a flash back. Think about using a confrontation not unlike the one you used in your preliminary task but clearly more dramatic.
You could use improvisation for the dialogue. Whilst this confrontation is going on you could cut to flash backs which could be triggered by one of the interrogators flicking a cigarette lighter off and on.

  3. I also suggest you do a mood board on a slide show so that you have a clear visual concept.
